From The Other Side Of The Nipple: Another Psychic Communication For Mom
This is Sandy speaking. Our guest columnist will be on in a second. If you have nursed your baby, you know the warmth, the love, the beauty of creation, and the pride as you hold and nurse your soft, delicate bundle. You have looked into the innocent and infinitely wise eyes studying your face. Our guest has asked me to pass on this communication, once again, to let you know just what a baby needs from a loving and caring Mommy!
Now for our guest blogger, your new baby.
Hi again, Mom. First, I want to thank you so much for nursing me. I’ve psychically tuned in to GOOGLE and other really great sites for information and gee, I’ve learned a lot. aFirst,I’m not a cow, and your milk is much healthier for me. I’m so blessed that you have healthy nutrition, because, for example, that makes your milk rich in ascorbate, and somebody named Dr. Klenner did some research that showed that ascorbate reduced the risk of Sudden Infant Death. Your milk protects me against viruses, diseases and allergies. It also may increase my IQ, as well as my cognitive and social development. GEE, MOM, YOU ARE IMPORTANT!!
I also learned that people spend a lot of money on vitamins, Probiotics, and other food supplements that are very important for their health and I’m so glad that you are using good supplements for me, too, because that makes your milk rich in necessary nutrients including acidophilus, inositol, some immune factors and mucin, a natural antiviral. So thanks to you I get almost everything I need all for free with the added benefit of love. And I know and appreciate that your holding me and loving me is also important to my health. aaOne thing I learned is that even with the best diet and supplementation, you still might not always get optimal amounts of everything that I need so I am really happy that you are also giving me a truly food based non chemical vitamin/mineral compound that has everything to insure that I have all the nutrients available when I need them.
I have a concern, mommy. You know that while I am depending on your milk for food, your body is making me its #1 priority. If you don’t eat enough good and healthy food, your body sacrifices nutrients to make my milk as healthy as possible. That means that you can lose your health in order to give me health. Sandy, who is writing this for me, didn’t know all about this when she was carrying and nursing her five children. She actually lost several teeth because they took most of the calcium from her body and she didn’t have enough for herself. I don’t want that; so, please eat enough good stuff to keep us both healthy. I know you want to lose a little belly fat that you got because of me, but don’t try to lose too much weight immediately. We’ll both enjoy life more if you are healthy.
There are a few other things I need from you that can help me be healthy even into my later years. We kids like to try to bargain with our parents to get what we want and I’m going to ask you to strike a bargain with me today! Please don’t smoke while you are nursing me, or while I live in your home, and I won’t smoke when I grow up. Please don’t drink alcohol or sodas while you are nursing me because that can deplete some of the nutrients that I really need. I want a healthy Mommy, and I want to be healthy.
So Mommy, let me suggest what I think you should be eating and supplementing to keep us both healthy.
The best kind of eating plan for you is one that includes a lot of veggies of all kinds and colors. Green leafy ones are great as a moderately good source of calcium, except for cooked spinach. The orange and red ones are wonderful as well. If you can get most of them from organic sources, you won’t risk giving me any poison pesticides and herbicides. Some of them can get through into your milk.
You need more protein than you would if you were not nursing me so think in terms of broiled organic chicken, fish, low fat cheeses and nuts and seeds. You can also get protein from low or non fat milk or soy milk. You will also do best with a biologically complete protein supplement drink because none of the above sources is biologically complete.
If you use whole grains, (not whole wheat) but any that say 100% stone ground wheat, rye, barley, or other kind of grain, you will get a whole lot more nutrition from fewer calories and that will help you to take some of the extra weight off safely without losing your milk for me.
Be sure to eat at least 3 or 4 servings of fruit unless you are diabetic.
The Mediterranean Food Guide Pyramid is an excellent guide to how much of what to eat.
If you click on the picture you can enlarge it to see it better.
If you want to lose weight while nursing me, there are safe ways to do it but remember, that no matter which program you choose, you MUST have an extra 500 calories of really healthy food in order to make my milk! You want to be sure that your weight program ensures that you will not lose muscle mass while losing fat. That happens on most programs even though you may be exercising a lot. Exercising helps to slow down the muscle loss, but it does not stop it. That can only be done nutritionally as far as we know.
As far as supplementation, I hope you will keep on with everything I told you about while you were carrying me. If you want a refresher on both the generic list and what Sandy recommends, just click here for the post that has the generic list, and here for the detailed one. I think Sandy wants to say something herself, so I’ll sign off with lots of love and trust!
Sandy: Yes, I do have a bit more to say. I really hope this series is helpful and I’d love to have you comment and even comment on each other’s comments. If you think it is worthy of passing on, please retweet it and pass it along to your FaceBook and other Social Network friends.
Watch for the next post that will cover some or all of the nutritional needs for women in the stages of peri-menopause, menopause, and post menopause. I don’t know if that will need more than one post or not. It will depend on whether I can keep it short enough for just one post. I try to respect your time as well.
If you want to talk with me about any nutritional or lifestyle health issues, I’m always available just by clicking here.

Sandy,
I like the way you wrote these last two posts. I didn’t know all this when I had my children years ago. I’m glad you can share these tips and suggestions with Moms today.
Thanks for always sharing useful imformation!

Sandy,
This post is terrific. I love how you write from the perspective of the baby. Most moms will have this type of dialogue going on in their heads while they are pregnant and nutrition is a huge part of having a healthy baby and healthy mother. Nice title, grabbed my attention and made me want to know more.

Dear Sandy,
It is always a very interesting experience for me when I come to your blog. My comments will literally be as long as books. Why? Because although many are not aware, I am an expert in nutrition among other things and it is not trivial to comment with a paragraph or two when many important topics are concerned. SO that’s why I haven’t commented much. I am not ignoring your posts, but it is non trivial to do it briefly…
There are some excellent reminders for moms here. Proper nutrition is absolutely essential for everyone’s perfect health. The question is – what is the right nutrition??? There is so much information everywhere – it could literally be overwhelming. How correct is the information and how to know what to choose? In fact, it is pretty simple and easy, but in truth it is not known. Nature is the one who has always been, is and will be an example of absolute wisdom and knowledge. We are to look at nature and then it is very easy to see for ourselves. It will take a pretty long comment (I literally can write a book touching on all the things you wrote in the post and explaining why that is from the point of view of the fusion of science and spirituality which is where the truth is) to go over all points that you are making, so I will mention only some.
First, the human mother’s milk is 1 molecule different from the fruit pear and has nothing to do with cow’s milk. And nursing the baby is very important. Human mother’s milk can’t be substituted with any animal milk effectively because the biology and physiology of the different animals is different and we humans are animals too. The same way the cow is meant to graze green leaves and grasses, NOT to eat animals, neither their bi-products, nor corn, we are not created at all to consume some things that currently are wide-spread and considered foods. Unfortunately, you have some of them listed as something that will be helpful for moms.
It is important to understand that PROTEIN is not supplied to a human body through meat!!! Yes, I am aware that most people are brainwashed to believe the opposite. But the simple truth is that protein is made out of amino acids and the most effective way for the body to be provided with protein is to be provided with all the amino acids which the body arranges like constructor pieces in certain orders to comprise the proteins. There are 10 essential and 10 nonessential amino acids. The essential ones are those that the body can’t manufacture – instead they are provided through food -food from the PLANT kingdom, not the animal kingdom. This is valid for humans; the non-essential ones can be manufactured by the body if all necessary nutrition is in it.
Then all toxins from the mother’s body will be transferred to the baby through the milk. So it is important for the mother to watch out both for her own sake and for the sake of the beloved baby.
Another myth to be broken is about dairy. Dairy products are NOT a source of valuable nutrition for anyone. They are actually very harmful. I know this is a very difficult thing for most to hear and many prefer to live in denial instead of facing the truth. There is so much to say on all of it but I don’t think here is the place.
Fish – today because of the synthetic chemical pollution dumped in water bodies and everywhere, the fish literally is not fish but is heavy metals, dioxins, PCBs and deadly compounds in the shape of fish. There is NO safe fish to eat right now. Over a hundred years ago the picture was different, now the process that is wide-spread is called bio-accumulation which means that the higher we get on the food chain (the humans are at the top), the synthetic poisons are magnified millions of times – yes, you read it right ~ millions of times. So even if the amount was very small when it was first thrown, by the time it gets up the food chain 3 levels it is magnified millions of times. That’s why PCBs are so deadly and they get lodged in the tissues of the body and poison it from the inside out.
I would like to add that if the mother truly know what is beneficial for her to eat that is also benefiting the baby, she would NEVER have extra pounds or belly fat or baby phat or anything like that. The pure fact that most moms have it is a proof that the society is at a level of education that is not accurate to what the body is created to be. Yes, after the baby is born the mom is to look perfect with no fat or anything added to her whatsoever. This however will be witnessed only when the level of awareness of what is truly healthy increases to the correct levels…
Infinite love and gratitude to you,

Hello Venus, thanks for writing your comments. I am aware of virtually everything you have written and agree with most of it. My goal here is to get someone started on the right path and as I get to work with them, show them better and better ways to get their nutrition.
There is some legitimate disagreement on whether we should eat some or no meat at all. There is no disagreement about the fact that it should not be the main part of every meal. Ideally all food should be grown organically.
Dairy is another area of different opinions. There are some cultures that do use milk of some kind, usually not cows milk, even into adulthood, most don’t. The contamination you speak of is probably even more important than the exact food.
I certainly do recommend to my clients that they eat a preponderance of plant foods and limit animal foods. I can think of no processed food in the grocery store or any fast food that I would not say to absolutely stay away from. You are so right that many things that we call food are nothing more than synthetic toxins.
My preference simply is to start where people are and gradually educate them to a higher and healthier way of living as we go along.
I know that as we pool my 40 years of knowledge and yours we will help a lot of people.

Hi Sandy,
I love that you wrote this post from the point of view of the baby. It amazes me how many pregnant women don’t eat well because they are afraid of gaining too much weight…or they just don’t know the basics of proper nutrition!
Having breast fed both my kids, I love that people like you are continuing to promote this important step in the process of growing our children. That’s what Mother Nature intended for us to do, after all!
Terrific information here. And yes, Venus indeed wrote a tremendous comment!

Hi Mary Lou. Yes, that is nature’s way and when we listen to Nature and follow the good practices we all benefit. I’m so glad you breast fed your kids. I did but only up to 4 months and then stresses made me lose my milk. If I had known then what I know now, I wouldn’t have let that happen.
Thanks so much for commenting.

Arlan, Thank you so much. You are right on about nutrition starting with love. We realize that the most important part is loving ourselves enough to go for what is truly good and to reject what is not good for us. We need to realize that a few moments of pleasure cannot measure up to a life time of vitality and good health that allows us to experience all the real pleasures of life.
Thanks again,
Sandy

Talk about some valuable information! My wife breastfed our son, who is now 19 mos old, and I stand by it that he is such a healthy baby for that reason! I know my wife will love reading this. She’s a huge supporter of breastfeeding. I’m going to share this with her. Thanks so much Sandy.

What a lovely post! I thoroughly enjoyed it from the baby’s perspective. Babies are so innocently wise.
I also love how you said “mom, I’m not a cow and your milk is much healthier for me.”
I do hope that this information gets out to all of the nursing women out there.
I love your site and the information it contains. I will certainly be telling my friends about you
